When it comes to matching ensembles, mother-and-daughter looks usually take the cake. Moms get to dress their little girls up as their mini-me while the baby girl has a lasting memory. In fact, celebrity moms are notorious for hopping on the trend. Celebrity mommy-and-me outfits are always super cute, whether for Halloween or a regular day!
According to The Atlantic, “mommy-and-me” outfits were first created in the early 1900s. French fashion designer Janne Lanvin saw an opportunity for her to bond with her young daughter. She noticed few matching mother-and-daughter outfits were available, so she created her own line.
The trend rose in popularity during the 1950s and eventually evolved into the modern styles we see today. Here are five celebrity mommy-and-me outfits we could not get enough of!
1. Beyoncé and Blue Ivy
In 2019, Beyoncé voiced Nala in the remake of Disney’s “The Lion King.” At the Los Angeles premiere of the movie, the singer and her daughter, Blue Ivy, arrived in nearly identical outfits. Both of the beauties sported Alexander McQueen. Beyoncé wore a more embellished jacket, while Blue Ivy opted for silver shoulder appliques.
Both outfits were complete with a sheer, diamond-studded tulle skirt. Blue Ivy’s outfit was complete with leggings and flats. The queen paired the dress with silver strappy heels.
2. Ciara and Sienna
Ciara and Russell Wilson have created a beautiful family since marriage in 2016. The “Level Up” singer is smitten with her family and frequently posts pictures of them, including adorable mommy-and-me pictures. In 2019, the internet went wild over the singer and her daughter Sienna in their matching swimsuits.
3. Gabrielle Union and Kaavia James
Since her birth in 2018, Kaavia Wade has been serving cuteness and sass! She and her gorgeous mother, Gabrielle Union, often match outfits for appearances. In 2022, at the premiere of “Cheaper by the Dozen,” Union and Kaavia stunned in matching black and white dresses.
