Black Excellence Reigns Supreme for the 2022 Emmy Nominations

The 2022 Emmy nominations have arrived and some of our celeb faves have swept the categories. Read on for some notable nominations (and snubs).

Noms

Stranger Things landed 13 Emmy nominations, ranging from ‘Best Drama Series’ to ‘Outstanding Prosthetic Makeup’.

Euphoria collected  a total of 16 nominations, including ‘Outstanding Drama Series’. Cast members ranging from Sydney Sweeney to Colman Domingo were also nominated.

Chadwick Boseman has been posthumously nominated for ‘Outstanding Character Voice-Over’ for his role as King T’Challa on the Disney+ animated Marvel series, What If…?.

Issa Rae was nominated for ‘Best Actress in a Comedy Series’ for her role in the final season of Insecure.

Emmy First’s

Zendaya is the youngest woman ever nominated for producing at the Emmys. And it seems she’s coming for her directorial nomination soon enough.

Quinta Brunson has been nominated for her first-ever Emmy and her hit series, Abbott Elementary made history earning seven Emmy nominations in its first season!

Speaking of Abbott Elementary, Hollywood legend Sheryl Lee Ralph has been nominated for her first Emmy after more than 50 years in the business!

And Janelle James, Abbot’s breakout star also earned a nom. Both for the ‘Outstanding Supporting Actress’ category.

Sanaa Lathan has also cored her first nomination for ‘Best Guest Actress in a Drama Series’ for her appearance on Succession.

President Barack Obama earned his first-ever Emmy nomination for ‘Outstanding Narrator’ for his work on the Netflix docuseries, Our Great National Parks. This show is a must-add to your Netflix watchlist.

Snubs

While Stranger Things landed 13 Emmy nominations this year, cast members Sadie Sink and Millie Bobby Brown were snubbed despite their outstanding performances in season 4.

Euphoria collected various noms but we can’t help but think Nika King, who plays Rue’s mother, was snubbed this year. Her emotional, gut-wrenching portrayal as the mother of an addict was moving and definitely deserving of a nomination.

We can’t wait to tune and see which 2022 Emmy Nominations turn into 2022 Emmy Wins! Who are you rooting for?

Tune in to the 74th annual Emmy awards which will be aired on September 12, 2022, on NBC.
