Ava DuVernay’s “ARRAY Crew” Is Looking to Hire You

LinkedIn has met the show biz industry and we owe it all to a multi-hyphenated queen. Ava DuVernay became the change she wanted to see in the entertainment industry! The Filmmaker has leveled up by launching a new database called, ARRAY Crew. As a Black Woman, DuVernay knows firsthand how hard it is to break into an inclusive industry. The database will help women and people of color showcase their skills. Many managers/executives will use ARRAY as a resource to hire. ARRAY Crew officially launched on February 19th and in just a short time over 3,000 profiles have been created on the site.

The Filmmaker has reported that many rising talents have already begun receiving job opportunities! This is a huge step towards bridging the gap for the underrepresented in the entertainment industry. Sony, Netflix, Disney, Hulu, and other major networks have already invested in the platform. The ARRAY Crew is serving “below the line talent” which is a great way to diversify Hollywood. Currently, there are 45 categories offered for those who sign up.

She was the first African-American woman to win Best Director at the 2012’s Sundance Film Festival for her film, Middle of Nowhere. The film, 13TH, earned her two Primetime Emmys, a Golden Globe Nomination, and an Oscar Nomination. In 2019, her Netflix miniseries about the Exonerated Five, When They See Us, was the most-watched series on Netflix in 2019. As a result, the miniseries earned DuVernay various awards and accolades.

Her groundbreaking projects have brilliantly highlighted truth and justice. She is the epitome of a storyteller making sure everyone’s voice is heard and now she is opening doors for many women to tell their story.
