It becomes quite awkward and tense quickly, and over time, some issues cannot be resolved due to each individual’s feelings and reasons. This, to married couples, leads to divorce; to single daters, it’s breakups. As sad as it is to comprehend, breakups and divorce are an everyday reality, and since the pandemic hit, we’ve seen a rise in divorce and breakup rates. Here’s a list of celebrities who have decided to end their relationships and marriages in 2022.
1. MIGUEL & NAZANIN MANDI
Miguel and Nazanin Mandi were actually high school sweethearts and got engaged in 2016. They have been married for three years, but according to TMZ, Nazanin has filed for divorce. The two announced in September 2021 that they were separating after being together for 17 years. However, the couple got back together in February 2022. Reports state that she has mentioned irreconcilable differences between them as the reason for the split. One week ago, the model reflected on her “current journey of introspection.” “On a current journey of introspection and discovering my purest me again … when and who was I when I was my most free and confident self …,” she captioned a series of selfies.
Although it’s unclear when the two separated, they were last photographed together in July.
2. TIA MOWRY & CORY HARDRICT
Tia took to Instagram on Tuesday to announce that the couple is getting divorced after 14 years of marriage. The pair, who married in 2008, share an 11-year-old son, Cree, and a 4-year-old daughter, Cairo. Last week, the actress attended Variety’s Power of Women event and told Access that she is learning to focus on herself and “setting boundaries.” Tia Mowry took to Instagram on Tuesday to announce the news, saying they would maintain a friendship and co-parent. However, the couple has cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for the divorce.
3. LORI HARVEY & MICHAEL B. JORDAN
Michael B. Jordan and Lori Harvey split up on June 4 after a year and a half of dating. A source told People that Michael had matured a lot over the course of their relationship and was ready to commit for the long term. Unfortunately, Lori was not in the same space.
4. CHANEL IMAN & STERLING SHEPARD
News broke that the model and NFL player were parting ways in January 2022 after three years of marriage. (although Chanel had filed months before). Divorce documents obtained by Us claimed that the pair had been having marital issues as far back as December 2020. E! News reported, “They have been rocky for a while now and are taking time apart. They are trying to work out their plan on how they will co-parent their daughters peacefully.”
5. TREVOR NOAH & MINKA KELLEY
On May 18, Trevor and Minka split up (again) after two-ish years of dating, and a source told US Weekly that they “have been broken up for a while” and “there is no ill will and everything is amicable between them.” The pair had started dating in 2020, and in May 2021, they reportedly split and reunited later in the same month. However, a year later, it was reported that they had officially broken up.
6. CORY BOOKER AND ROSARIO DAWSON
Cory Booker and Rosario Dawson broke up after two years of dating; however, sources reported that they are still friends.
7. NE-YO & CRYSTAL RENAY
Us confirmed on August 4 that Renay filed for divorce three days prior after accusing Ne-Yo of cheating on her throughout their marriage. The pair, who share three children, previously split in February 2020 before renewing their vows in April.
8. BURNA BOY & STEFLON DON
Steflon Don and Burna Boy dated for three years before parting ways this year. The pair, who started dating in early 2019, had a rocky relationship, with several claims of infidelity. Burna Boy announced the breakup on his Instagram story, and later Steflon responded to that via Twitter, saying, “Money changes people.”
