1. Black Opal 

Black Opal just became a black-owned brand in December 2020 when it was acquired by Desirée Rogers and Cheryl Mayberry McKissack. Their products consist of skincare, 24 shades of foundation, concealers, lipsticks, and powders. Their products are also available in Walmart, Ulta, and Sephora with prices ranging from $9.99-$14.95. 

2. Thread Beauty

Thread Beauty, is owned by Melissa Butler, who believes in being unapologetic. This brand is available at Target and on Thread Beauty’s website. Their products consist of complexion sticks, pigmented lipsticks, and multi-sticks. The pricing is super affordable starting at $8.

3. Lys Beauty

Lys is the first Black-owned Sephora Clean Color Cosmetic Brand. Owned by Tisha Thompson, this brand is also vegan and cruelty-free. The products consist of 25 foundation shades, cream blushes, bronzers, setting powders, and even makeup brushes. The prices of these products range from $4-$20. 

4. Beauty Bakerie 

Owned by Cashmere Nicole, Beauty Bakerie‘s product packaging resemble baked goods or sweet treats. Super cute, right? This brand is available at Ulta with prices ranging from $18-$34. 

5. The Lip Bar (TLB) 

TLB, also owned by Melissa Butler, sells products formulated with purpose and integrity. This Black-owned brand is 100% vegan and consists of more than lip products including eyeshadows, concealers, and brow pencils. Available at Walmart and Target, the prices range from $8-$22. One of their best-selling products is the Fresh Glow Highlighter which won Allure’s Best of Beauty award.
