‘Yu-Gi-Oh’ Creator, Kazuki Takahashi Has Passed Away 

Kazuki Takahashi, creator of the popular ‘Yu-Gi-Oh’ franchise was found dead on Wednesday off the coast of Okinawa Island. He was 60 years old. Takahashi’s body was reportedly found floating off the coast of Nago wearing snorkeling gear. Events leading up to his death are currently being investigated.

The comic book artist started his career in the ’80s before getting his big break in 1996 when he first published ‘Yu-Gi-Oh!’ in Weekly Shonen Jump. The series followed spiky-haired boy Yugi, who after solving an ancient puzzle gets possessed by a spirit that assists Yugi when challenging various bullies and bad guys to mystic games. 

The beloved comic ran for eight years. It became a phenomenon and inspiring a worldwide trading card game, a popular anime series, movies, and video games. 

Takahashi was recently working on a limited series “The Comiq”. He was also collaborating with Marvel on a book starring Iron Man and Spider-Man.
