Who’s Your Pick? Xscape vs Destiny’s Child

Recently on Andy Cohen’s Watch What Happens Live, a show designed for producing provocative statements, Kandi Burruss and Lil Jon played a game called “Who do you Ver-Suspect”. The segment title was a play on the popular virtual music battle series created during the pandemic due to the lack of public performances. The music industry veterans had to choose an artist they believed would win in a battle out of the pairs given.

Lil Jon and Kandi Burruss unanimously chose Mariah Carey over Ariana Grande, Tina Turner over Beyoncé, and Xscape over Destiny’s Child. When given the last pair, Kandi laughed and said “Oh, really?! We the OGs.” This seemed to be the line of reasoning throughout the segment.

We have seen both guests battle on the Verzuz platform before, Burruss with Xscape versus SWV, and Lil Jon versus T-Pain. Both of those battles were matched well because of the time and catalog. The internet can’t get enough of Kandi, from resurfacing her old song, “Legs, Hips, Body” to now disagreeing with her choice between girl groups. Regardless of Twitter, Kandi Burrus’s pen was a gift to 90’s R&B. Outside of her own records and Xscape, she co-wrote hits like TLC’s “Scrubs” and “Bills, Bills, Bills” by Destiny’s Child.

The idea of a Verzuz battle between groups appears strictly hypothetical, but if not Xscape, what group is a good pairing for Destiny’s Child? Let us know in the comments and follow us on TwitterInstagramFacebookTikTok, and Pinterest!
