Thursday Night, Trump ordered approximately 60 cruise missiles to be fired at an airbase Syria. The horrific move was his response to the chemical attack on Syrian civilians earlier this week.
The surprise order from the president marked a shift for Trump, who was strongly against getting involved in the Syrian civil war. However, he stood by his decision in a statement following the attack Thursday night, and sympathized with those who were “cruelly murdered” in the “very barbaric” chemical raid. “No child of God should ever suffer such horror,” he said at a press conference.
Critics called him out for changing his mind on the U.S.’s involvement with the country’s civil war. Others also stated, if Trump is so concerned with the well-being of Syrian civilians, why won’t he let them in the country as refugees?
