Tupac Shakur Gets Inducted Into The Rock Hall Of Fame

It’s been confirmed! Tupac Shakur will be officially inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame next year. The late rapper will be inducted alongside fellow 2017 newcomers Pearl Jam, Joan Baez, Journey and Electric Light Orchestra.

Without a doubt, the rapper has been an important figure in Hip Hop culture. Raised in poverty by two former Black Panthers, Tupac pioneered hip hop’s celebration of the “from rags-to-riches” lifestyle, its poetic lyricism and its political & social underlining; selling more than 75 million albums worldwide in the process.

Twenty years after his death, Tupac’s influence is nearly as great as it was in his life. Hundreds of posthumous recordings have been released, and he’s shaped a generation of rappers who came after him.

The 2017 induction ceremony will take place on April 7 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. An edited version will later air on HBO and there will be a radio broadcast on SiriusXM.
