Tory Lanez Stabbed in Prison, Rushed to Hospital Amid 10-Year Sentence

Canadian rapper Tory Lanez, whose real name is Daystar Peterson, was reportedly stabbed by another inmate. The incident occurred at the California Correctional Institution in Tehachapi, where he is serving a 10-year sentence for the 2020 shooting of Megan Thee Stallion. The incident occurred during morning yard time on Monday, May 12, 2025. An ambulance transported Lanez to a hospital in Bakersfield. Officials describe his injuries as non-life-threatening, and he remains in stable condition.

The California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation confirmed that an inmate was injured and taken to an outside hospital. However, they did not release any names, citing privacy policies. The motive behind the stabbing is currently unknown, and the identity of the attacker remains under investigation.

Lanez was convicted in December 2022 on three felony counts: assault with a semiautomatic firearm, possession of a loaded and unregistered firearm, and grossly negligent discharge of a firearm. The charges stem from a July 2020 incident in which Megan Thee Stallion testified that Lanez shot at her feet as she walked away from an SUV. She underwent surgery to remove bullet fragments and later obtained a five-year restraining order against Lanez, citing ongoing harassment.

Tory Lanez is eligible for parole in 2029. His legal team has indicated plans to appeal the conviction.

The incident has raised concerns about inmate safety and the conditions within the California Correctional Institution. Further details are expected as the investigation continues.
