Throwback Album of the Week: Revisiting Sampha’s Process

When revisiting the best music projects of 2017, Sampha’s debut studio album is one worth mentioning. The treasured crooner, who has worked with Drake, Beyonce, and Kanye West to name a few, released “Process” to widespread critical acclaim.

“Process” was released last February and spawned 3 singles “Timmy’s Prayer,” “Blood on Me” and “(No One Knows Me) Like the Piano.”

“Process” is an amazing album as Sampha processes his grief over the death of his mother, and navigates self-discovery.

The raw emotion and Sampha’s voice crying out in despair, drives the album, as the singer plunges us into his pain. Unlike any of his features, the artist creates his own sound making “Process” different than anything he’s ever done.

Sampha also dives into past relationships on songs such as “Reverse Faults” and “Incomplete Kisses” which are two of the best songs on the album. “Process” is an album that’s finely crafted and honestly deserves more recognition.  Hopefully, a sophomore album is on the way soon.
