The Lost Souls

lost souls

17-year-old rap, twins and their producer fill MEFeater in on their plan for World Domination.

If you walked past the trio on the streets of Brooklyn, you might think they are normal teens. They hang out with their friends, go to Bishop Loughlin High School, and play video games, but unlike the average teen the trio make music. Inspired by New York rapper Big L, the twins (BG Fire and Fresh Costello) and Nick FRSH talk musical inspirations, their upcoming mixtape and more.

Q. Gabrielle Amani:  “How did you guys meet?”

A. BG Fire: “Fresh Costello & I always knew each other of course (they are twin brothers). It’s a funny story to tell but, Nick and us first met through Xbox live & then the following year we ironically went to the same high school. And we a took the train one day and Fresh Costello(Brent) asked Nick what was his gamertag and then that’s how we found out who each other were and then we became cool ever since.”

Q. Gabrielle Amani: “I know you guys are from Brooklyn, but what part?”

A. BG Fire: “We’re from crown heights/Bedstuy Brooklyn New York. Home of the greats.”

Q. Gabrielle Amani: “How does a 17-year-old discover Big L?”

A. BG Fire:  “A 17-year-old discovers big l, though the internet. We’re big fans of the boom bap ear. We love that & Big L just became one of our favorites due to his gritty sound, impeccable flow and delivery.”

Q. Gabrielle Amani: “How would you describe your sound?”

A. BG Fire: “We can describe our sound as lost. We feel as we can make any kind of music, whether it’s turn up, mellow, real life situations or for the females. We don’t really go by genres because we try to make music for every crowd, so there’s no title for that.”

Q. Gabrielle Amani: “Where do you see yourself in 5 years?”

A. BG Fire: “If God spares our lives, in the next five years we can see ourselves performing on stage with the greats. Selling out venues, shows, arenas………. Everything.”

Q. Gabrielle Amani: “What about money?”

A. Lost Souls: “We not in it for the money. We honestly just want to enjoy life doing something we love.”

Q. Gabrielle Amani: “Last time we spoke, you guys were figuring out a name for the second mix tape. Did you come up with a name yet?”

A. BG Fire: “The new mixtape is gonna be called iLLUMINATE 2, the follow-up for last years iLLUMINATE.”

Q. Gabrielle Amani: “Where can we find the first one?”

A. BG Fire: “You can find iLLUMINATE on hotnewhiphop, datpiff & YouTube.”

Q. Gabrielle Amani: “What’s your personal favorite song on your mixtape.”

A. BG Fire: “Personally our favorite song on ILLUMINATE would be x6.”

Q. Gabrielle Amani: “How many songs are on the mixtape?”

A. BG Fire: “Next mixtape…………. there should be around 13-15 songs.”

Q. Gabrielle Amani: “Who inspires your creativity?”

A. BG Fire: “As for inspiration to our creativity , I can say just us being ourselves. We always like to take things in these day and age and add our own twist it. We just love to be down to earth and come up with dope shit.”‘

Q. Gabrielle Amani: “Who was your favorite rapper growing up?”

A. BG Fire: “Growing up our favorite rappers were probably…… I can say the mainstream side of Biggie, Lil Wayne, some Dipset, Lupe fiasco etc.”

Q. Gabrielle Amani: “Who would you guys like to collaborate with?”

A. BG Fire:  “We’d like to collaborate with probably Flatbush Zombies, Pro era, Under Achievers & a handful of mainstream artists.”

Q. Gabrielle Amani: “You guys are pretty young. When did you guys start rapping and what made you start?”

A. BG Fire:  “We’ve started rapping in the 7th grade and we started because at the time our older brother was doing it and we kinda followed in his foot steps then later on we’ve started to do our own thing.”
