It’s Mother’s Day month and we want to talk about the love and bond expressed between a mother and a daughter. In order to illustrate that, we will explore the mother-daughter bond expressed in The Red Table Talk show between Jada Pinkett-Smith, Adrienne Norris, and Willow Smith.

The Red Table Talk is an American talk show starring actress Jada Pinkett-Smith, her mother Adrienne Norris, and Jada’s daughter, Willow Smith. The show premiered in May 2018 via Facebook Watch. The show’s synopsis states, “The Red Table Talk is three generations of women open their home for series of candid conversations.” The show takes place at The Smith’s house.
THREE GENERATIONS 💖
We love the fact that this is a familial program that explores the loving bond of black women over three generations. This is an absolute privilege and we love to see it through a Black family. There are no taboo subjects and all opinions are treated with respect. Even though at times the women don’t share the same opinion or vision, they always listen and attempt to understand the opposing view. We love the concept of learning from others and listening to them. In the show, the audience can see the high level of tolerance and love between the family.
THE GUESTS 🔥
The trio is cool but the plus of the show is having guests. In each episode, a new guest pulls up a seat at the red table. From Jordyn Woods to Ciara, Alicia Keys, Gabrielle Union and Bobby Brown, each of these stars has come on the show to tell their truth. The Red Table Talk eludes to another level of interviewing people because it is more intimate. We love the proximity that there is between the trio and the guests. The show covers deep topics such as love, friendship, health, fame, and scandals. At the end of the day, The Red Table Talk is like one big family that gathers in the middle of the living room to talk without judgment. What is also great about the show is the complexity of emotions showed throughout, never leaving a dull moment.
A MESSAGE 💌
When an episode is finished, you are not leaving empty-handed. This is very powerful because each video has a message or moral for all of us. Of course, the show is an interaction between the trio and the guests, but the audience can also learn a lot and get inspired by the journey of the guests. Some spectators find themselves in the show, as it is not just a show, but also an experience.
The Red Table Talk has been nominated for various awards multiple times and won the 2019 NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Host in a Talk or News/Information. The Red Table Talk is a promising show that has had a good media review overall. Season 2 premiered last March, it’s not too late to catch up.
