ICYMI: Jackie Aina to Executive Produce ‘Social Beauty’

Jackie Aina

Jackie Aina is executive producing 'Social Beauty,' a feature-length doc on the beauty industry and its influencers.

After recently launching her lifestyle brand that hosts a candle collection this past summer, Jackie Aina is primed to add another accolade underneath her belt. The Nigerian-American beauty content creator is set to executive produce Social Beauty, an upcoming documentary that delves into how socialite and influencer culture has transformed the beauty industry.

Aina is set to collaborate with Degrassi: The Next Generation actress Andrea Lewis, Kwanzaa Nicole Gooden, CJ Faison, and Takara Joseph for the film. In addition to her role as executive producer, she will also star in the feature-length film alongside Cydnee Black, Nyma Tang, Whitney White, Shalom Blac, and Alissa Ashley — all of whom have pioneered space for Black beauty influencers.

In a statement obtained by The Hollywood Reporter, Fiona Crystal, the project’s publicist, stated that the documentary will highlight “the success and impact of everyday Black women, turned top social media influencers dominating the mainstream beauty market and changing its standards, one tutorial at a time.”

From the increasing inclusivity of campaigns to the diversifying of corporate affiliates, minority influencers, especially the women in this cast, have pioneered their way to the forefront of the industry as leading beauty advocates and experts.

“These Black beauty influencers have led the charge in pointing out the lack of diversity in the beauty industry and inspiring more inclusion for women of color,” said Social Beauty creator Andrea Lewis to THR

With filming set to commence this fall, the beauty industry is giddily awaiting this timely documentary that divulges what it’s like for Black beauty influencers to set the standards and always stand on them.
