Popular music- streaming application, Spotify, announced it will remove all “hate music” by white supremacists from its massive library.
This comes after Digital Music Library published an article identifying all 37 white supremacist bands available for streaming on Spotify. The Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) first flagged these bands for extremism.
In response to the article, the streaming service, released a statement that it will remove material “that favors hatred or incites violence against race, religion, sexuality”.
Spotify has removed several bands, while the rest are under review. Bands that have been removed or are under view include Blood Red Eagle, Freikorps, Skinfull and Skull Head.
