Six Songs You Need To Hear This Week!

Each week, MEFeater gives you a list of top songs that you absolutely need to hear. Take a look:

The Same – Ryan Destiny

The gorgeous, Ryan Destiny is the definition of a superstar. What can’t she do? The singer/actress/model/beauty-bomb recently dropped off her new single, “The Same”, a  sensual melody about…well, these niggas being the same. The somber tune tells a story all too familiar to women. We find a new guy that we like and we tirelessly put in effort in hopes of making the relationship work. Unbeknownst to us, it isn’t even our fault, it’s the men. They are all on the same bullshit and we are FED up. But, we will let Ryan tell it, “I let you keep this up way too long. Check my phone, three unreads, two missed calls.” This is a song for every woman.

Understood – Mick Jenkins

In ‘Understood’, Mick Jenkins delivers storytelling full of bars, reminiscent of true 90s rap.  Mick Jenkins has also announced that his next album, Pieces of a Man will be releasing October 26th. ‘Understood’ was produced by Kaytranada.

Shot Clock – Ella Mai

‘Shot Clock’ brings back the 2000s R&B feel Ella Mai is known for. IN the song, Ella Mai sings about not waiting around forever. Sometimes, we may take people for granted because we think they will stick around but, “You got 24 seconds, can you beat the shock clock? What you waitin on lil daddy,? I ain’t got that much time.” Let them know sis. Ella Mai’s highly anticipated debut album, Ella Mai recently released and has all the car ride jams you can sing your heart out to.

Build – Justine Skye

Imagine if you could build your perfect man? That’s what Justin Skye sings about in her song, ‘Build’. Justine is sick of all men being the same, she wants to build her perfect nigga. Justine ultimately remembers that instead of trying to build a man, shes’ going to focus on growing herself and waiting for the one to come on its own. This song also features Arin Ray, who plays the devil’s advocate.

Jiggy On The Sh*T – Sheck Wes

Sheck Wes highly anticipated album, MUDBOY, is an energetic, blunt album.  In ‘Jiggy On The Shit’, Sheck Wes raps about the time when his mother sent him back home to Senegal, with no passport or phone as punishment for his abhorrent behavior. Sheck Wes had to navigate the “muddy” streets on his own. What makes this song so lit? Sheck Wes switches into his native tongue, Wolof, to rap.

Champagne Rose  – Quavo

Are we dreaming? Or did the queen of pop, Madonna, team up with the hottest rappers out right now? This song might be the best collaboration on the album. Quavo’s adlibs and Madonna’s vocals, along with Cardi’s boastful rap makes this song a must-listen.
