The affair of “Good Morning America” co-workers and news co-anchors T.J. Holmes and Amy Robach raised a lot of eyebrows. In late 2022, the Daily Mail reported that the news anchors, who are both married to other people, had struck up an affair while preparing for a marathon in March of that year. Their rumored affair turned relationship became public via 65 photos published in the Daily Mail, and the news has only spread like wildfire since then. In 2020, T.J. Holmes and Amy Robach joined forces on “GMA 3,” but two years later, their tenure as co-hosts came to an abrupt end. The outlet shared paparazzi photos of the two canoodling at bars, riding in cars together, and taking trips to furtive locations.
Followers dug up old social media posts about T.J., reporters sorted through their half-marathon times and apartment sales records, and all sorts of sources have surfaced to spread more gossip. Holmes has reportedly had at least one other affair at ABC. People judged the co-workers despite them announcing that they had both been separated from their spouses around August 2022.
Though Holmes and Robach maintained their hosting duties initially upon the news break, they were soon pulled from the “GMA” desk by the company. The president of ABC News, Kimberly Godwin, said that T.J. Holmes and Amy Robach will remain off the air until an internal review is completed since their relationship itself doesn’t violate company rules.
TJ Holmes and Amy are not the first or last coworkers to be caught in the act of adultery. They join a long list of celebrity adulterers such as Tiger Woods, Hugh Grant, and Arnold Schwarzenegger, just to name a few.
Lauren Sanchez slept with Jeff Bezos while still married
Sanchez and Bezos first crossed paths when they became neighbors on Mercer Island, Washington. The couple connected over shared interests, and their relationship flourished from there. Sanchez and Bezos told their respective partners about their affair. Soon after that, text messages between the two were revealed. “I love you, alive girl. I will show you with my body, my lips, and my eyes very soon,” one text message from Bezos read.
Both Sanchez and Bezos divorced their spouses, though the latter proved to be far more expensive than the former. As of December 2022, Bezos and Sanchez were still dating. Sanchez told CNN, “We’re really great teammates; we have a lot of fun together, and we love each other.”
Matt Lauer was accused of abusing his power
On November 29, 2017, former NBC Chairman Andy Lack spoke out. “We received a detailed complaint from a colleague about inappropriate sexual behavior in the workplace by Matt Lauer. As a result, we’ve decided to terminate his employment. While it is the first complaint about his behavior, we were also presented with reason to believe this isn’t an isolated incident.” he said. More women soon came forward with allegations of sexual misconduct against the anchor.
The public soon learned more about Lauer’s behind-the-scenes behavior, which was evidently an open secret. Per Variety, former NBC employee Brooke Nevils accused Lauer of sexual assault. Lauer acknowledged he had a sexual relationship with Nevils, though he claimed everything was consensual. In 2019, Page Six reported that Lauer allegedly had an affair with a fellow star anchor. The anchor said she had to sign an NDA when she left NBC in 2012. In 2017, former “Today” PA Addie Collins told Variety that she and Lauer engaged in an affair when she was a staffer. “Even though my situation with Matt was consensual, I ultimately felt like a victim because of the power dynamic,” she said.
Jesse Watters
Fox News host Jesse Watters was served divorce papers after entering into an adulterous relationship with a co-worker. Noelle Watters, Jesse’s wife, filed for divorce after learning about the extramarital affair. In March 2019, the couple divorced after ten years of marriage. Watters didn’t waste much time showing off his new beau. He shared a photo of his wedding to 27-year-old Emma DiGiovine, which took place in December 2019. DiGiovine was Watters’s associate producer on his show, Watters World. Special guests at the star-studded event included Donald Trump Jr., Kimberly Guilfoyle, and Eric and Lara Trump.
After Watters started dating DiGiovine, he reported the consensual relationship to Fox. She was then moved to “The Ingraham Angle,” another show on the network. The two continued to date after her job shift. According to Fox, DeGiovine left the network in the spring of 2018. After Fox was notified of the affair, Noelle filed for divorce in October 2017. News of the couple’s split was not made public until March 2018.
Adultery is, unfortunately, an activity that is very common, especially in showbiz. There are many marriages that have failed due to cheating and affairs. Just like death, you can’t quite anticipate it or plan for it. It is, however, quite damaging to the kids and partners involved. These news anchors, however, have proven to be brave enough to lose it all over adultery.
