OJ Simpson Granted Parole After 9 Years In Prison

OJ Simpson was granted parole today. After serving 9 years in prison for an armed robbery and kidnapping in Las Vegas in 2007, he will walk free.

Simpson is a former football superstar who is infamously known for being acquitted of a double murder. The murder was of his ex-wife Nicole Brown-Simpson and her friend Ron Goldman.

The “Trial of the Century”, ended on October 3, 1995. The jury verdict of “not guilty” was given for the murders. An estimated 100 million people nationwide tuned in to watch or listen to the verdict announcement. Furthermore, the double murder case is still unsolved.

Also, Simpson was later arrested in 2007. A group of men led by Simpson entered a room at the Palace Station hotel-casino and took sports memorabilia at gunpoint. He claimed that it belonged to him. On December 5, 2008, Simpson was sentenced to a total of 33 years in prison. However, he was granted with the possibility of parole after about nine years.

As a result, he was granted parole on July 20, 2017.
