Octavia Spencer is Securing the Horror roles! We Love a Versatile Queen
Just last week, a trailer of Octavia Spencer’s new horror film, MAMA broke the internet. Many fans have never seen her in a horror role.
Now, Octavia Spencer is making headlines again for her recent casting in The Witches remake. Spencer will play the grandmother of Luke (Jahzir Bruno), the young boy who gets caught up in the witch’s madness and is relentlessly pursued by the Grand High Witch (Anne Hathaway).
What’s ‘The Witches’ About?
The Witches was originally a 1983 dark fantasy horror novel by Ronald Dahl. It tells the story of a young boy who accidentally stumbles upon a secret world of witches who despise children and wreak havoc wherever they go. After being discovered by the witches, the young boy is targeted and must do whatever he can to take them down, and essentially save all the children. In 1990 the novel was adapted into a screenplay (written by Allan Scott) starring Mai Zetterling, Jasen Fisher, Anjelica Hutson, and Rowan Atkinson.
This movie seriously terrified me as a kid! I can’t wait to see how the remake will be perceived now that all the 90s’ babies are adults. Check out the trailer for the 1990 film below!
