#NYFW Recap: The New York Fashion Week SS19 Experience

V FILES SS19 NEW YORK FASHION WEEK 09/05/2018

NYFW Spring/Summer 2019 season has finally come to a close and as much as we hate to say goodbye to all the chiffon, glitter, and gold it’s time, but this isn’t the end. It was an incredibly eye-opening experience for us having the opportunity to observe some of the latest collections from designer all over the world. Below you’ll find some of our favorite designs of NYFW SS19.

Mefeater had the pleasure of viewing some of the hottest shows of NYFW. One of the most memorable shows to kick-off NYFW was V-files and boy was it packed with loads of talent and style.

VFiles

Vfiles highlighted five different designers including Vfiles, Yellow Label designer Paul Cupo. The theme this year focused primarily on authenticity, diversity, and inclusivity. In addition to the designers, the show also featured amazing performances by artist such as Barbie Boy, Jewnique, Danays, Jean-Luc and many more. The Queen Bee ‘Lil Kim’ even showed face, ripping the runway in a custom Vfile piece and she put on a performance as well.

Dan Liu

Dan Lui was another designer we adored. This was our second time viewing their collection and it keeps getting better and better. Dan Lui’s theme this year brought dolls to life. Each model strutted the runway with their faces painted like Japanese doll in pieces that fit perfectly in any wardrobe.

LaQuan Smith

LaQuan Smith was another designer that caught with authentic pieces to die for. Every time his designs hit the runway they are breathtaking. LaQuan’s unique use of lucid lace tops and plunging necklines served up sex appeal yet raunchiness on a silver platter.

Talisha White

This stunning collection of gowns filled with periwinkle blues, soft pink tutu’s, and spring yellow satins wasn’t enough. Talisha White was determined to break barriers at this year fashion week and that’s just what she did. White, was the only designer during NYFW to give a young woman with Down syndrome the moment of her life by helping her fulfill her dream of modeling in NYFW.

Savage X Fenty by Rihanna

NYFW ended with a big bang this season. Leaving a soulful yet seductive taste in our mouths. The badgalRiRi herself closed out the show displaying her latest collection of Savage X Fenty Lingerie. Rihanna made sure to include all shades (skin tones) and sizes while presenting the hot collection. The models pranced around with high confidence in earthy-toned lace and satin garments.
