Notorious B.I.G Gets Basketball Court Renamed After Him

B.I.G

Brooklyn gets a B.I.G Makeover

Bedstuy, Brooklyn has always been notorious for its amazing history, culture, and soul.  Bedstuy was also home to megastar Christopher Wallas, also known as the Notorious B.I.G. or Biggie. He was infamous for his rap music, including the hit single “Juicy”. Biggie passed away in 1998, leaving his music and his legacy behind.

On August 2, 2017, the Bedstuy Community dedicated the Crispis Attucks Playground to Wallas, led by City Councilman Robert Cornett. The dedication followed a promise that citymaker made to Violeta Wallace; that he would honor her son. The court included a 2.5 million dollar renovation that took the Parks Department five years to complete. The playground includes new playground equipment, renovated handball courts and a renovated safety surface. The parks’ cosmetics fixes include new stairs and landscaping.

Following the dedication, Violeta Wallace changed the acronym for B.I.G to “Books Instead of Guns.” Christopher favored the playground before he blew up as a rap star.
