Nick Cannon Shines in Reggae Movie: "King of the Dance Hall"

Writer, director, producer, radio personality, host, and actor Nick Cannon always has his eggs in more than one basket. He is introducing his new movie, “King of the Dance Hall” exclusively on YouTube Red. Cannon will play a character named Tarzan, who moves to Jamaica in hopes of starting a new life selling weed to make money.

Since the movie is based in Kingston, Jamaica, it was only right for reggae artists like Beenie Man and Busta Rhymes to star in what people are calling “the reggae version” of Step Up. Busta Rhymes portrays Nick Cannon’s cousin and Beenie Man stars as the narrator throughout the movie. To add to the star-studded cast, Whoopi Goldberg plays Nick Cannon’s mother!

Busta Rhyme’s character is a local DJ who introduces Cannon’s character to his very first dance hall experience. There, he meets a local girl who draws him into the dance hall scene. When Nick Cannon finds out about a $10 million dance hall competition, he is determined to win the competition to help his ailing mother. With the help of his new found love, Nick Cannon’s character gets sucked into the dance hall music scene. Nothing is easy and he learns that, “Sweat, tears, work fast and hard.”

The movie can be watched right now on Youtube Red!
