Nick Cannon Does Great Things, But This Cover Of SZA’s “The Weekend” Isn’t One Of Them

Nick Cannon has done a lot of influential things for the entertainment industry, and for black arts alike. He is a prolific entrepreneur that has created, produced, and starred in a stream of content dating back to the late 90s.  He’s managed artists like the New Boyz, Amber Rose and of course, Kehlani.

With that being said, many of us are left wondering, “Is there anything Nick Cannon cant do?”

Yes. Yes, there is.

Nick Cannon’s most recent EP, Singing With Dream Girls, is a three song project featuring covers from our favorite R&B princesses: SZA, H.E.R., and Kehlani. I wasn’t sure what to expect when I listened to the cover. Nick Cannon has musical experience, without a doubt, so I didn’t expect it to be terrible, but it was.

Who’s idea was it to turn The Weekend into an auto tune turn up anthem? I cringed the entire time I listened to it (especially hard during the chorus), and the auto tune didn’t make it any better. I was getting serious IceJJ Fish vibes from this song. Let this be a guilty pleasure you keep to yourself next time, Nick.
