If you live in Los Angeles or Las Vegas going to see your favorite artist will cost you a hefty penny. But, if you go see that same concert in Buffalo, NY it will cost you a fraction of the price.
A new study released by Wanderu figured out exactly how ticket costs differ from city to city in the United States. They took a look at prices for large-scale arena tours that took place in 2017 (as well as future 2018 tours from artists like The Weeknd and Kendrick Lamar).
Their study revealed, that the most expensive place to catch a showing is (in order) Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Houston, San Diego, and Washington D.C. With places like Los Angeles and Las Vegas being known for their entertainment. It is no surprise that artist are willing to ask for more money from their fans in those cities.
Here’s a break down to show how ticket prices vary from around the country:
What comes as a surprise from the study is New York being placed at #7. New York is very much known for its entertainment sector and being a big city. But it falls behind smaller cities such as San Diego and Houston. On top of that, New Yorkers can enjoy an even cheaper alternative that is just a 20-minute transit train ride away. We’re talking about Newark, NJ where the Prudential Center hosts many of the same concerts held in the Big Apple but, oftentimes, at a lower price.
