New York Men’s Day presentations have proved time and time again that it’s not just for men. Instead, they invite fashion aficionados of all genders and backgrounds.
For a split-day (AM/PM) session, show goers flocked to Daylight Studios where six imaginative menswear designers ranging from A. Potts to Terry Singh put on captivating presentations.
Sponsors Sperry Topsider and De’Longhi, provided cozy cafes as rest areas in between presentations and bottomless espresso martinis (the unofficial drink of fashionable showgoers all over the city).
The morning session consisted of Nobis, A. Potts, Terry Singh, Atelier Cillian, Teddy Vonranson, and Amirok.
Nobis showed a chilly, wind-swept presentation consisting of fall-hued puffers, vests, and sleek transitional jackets. The collection combined utilitarian designs with dopamine-dressed vibrant colors.
A. Potts showcased an alluring presentation titled, “Hiding the Horizon”. The collection was evidently inspired by Questlove’s Summer of Soul in the sculpted hair and flowing silhouettes. Collection standouts were the pale blue maxi dress with fabulously accented neckline and the lime green pieces.
Atelier Cillian showcased a refined, sleek collection with pieces ranging from the perfect beach-ready linen co-ord to a sharply tailored jacquard pantsuit. The collection was inspired by treasures found of Egypt’s Valley of the Kings – evident in the golden hues and blackened eye makeup.
Amirok showcased a textured, all-black collection featuring sleek designs that allow the wearer’s silhouette to define how the piece falls. The collection perfectly blends effortless and buttoned-up looks.
Teddy Vonranson showcased their collection set to a mountain-side backdrop. Collection standouts were the burnt orange fringe jacket and camel-colored pants set.
Terry Singh was easily our editor’s favorite designer of the day with a family-style presentation (literally). Terry shared that the collection was a labor of love as he pivots into designs that are inclusive of families – creating new perceptions in style.
The afternoon session consisted of Fried Rice, Holo Market, Nicholas Raefski, Sov Er Eign Ty (so ty), and Todd Patrick who put on unique and captivating presentations that had our editor updating her wishlist.
Fried Rice kicked off a playful, freeform-style presentation with models acting out various activities that were inspired by “the diversity of creative and cultural perspectives in urban life.” Models jumped around, chatted with each other, and even held photoshoots of their own during the presentation. Our editor’s favorites were the green and black jumpsuit (Shego anyone?) and the perfectly flared cargo pants:
Holo Market debuted a pattern-splashed collection that interestingly combined athleisure and streetwear with resort wear. Our editor’s favorites were the gradient tee, the ornately painted pants, and the laser cute two-piece short set:
Nicholas Raefski staged a bar-style presentation complete with bartenders and models posed around cocktail tables. Flavor Flav appeared wearing a sporty Raefski co-ord. Pieces that caught our editor’s eye were this speckled suit with the straight-leg pant and this stylish camel coat paired with the perfect bag:
SO.TY presented a lively collection rich with springtime hues. Our editor’s favorites were the green distressed tank paired with flared bell-bottom pants, the hot pink aircraft style jumpsuit, and the pale blue trend + pant set. Such versatile pieces are gender neutral in their design and styling opportunities.
Todd Patrick presented a laid-back presentation with models kicked back on couches in what was a makeshift living room. The easygoing nature of the presentation lent to the relaxed designs. Our editor’s favorites were the turquoise suit and the green leisure suit:
New York Men’s Day remains a tried and true source of inspiration for fashion lovers all over NYC (and globally). The true sign of a talented eye is someone who can find beauty or art in any piece – no matter the gender (or lack thereof).
