SEASON 2 TEASER

Netflix announced the with a characteristically creepy 10-second teaser that opens on an extreme close-up of the show’s “Red Light, Green Light” animatronic doll. The circle, square, and triangle representing different designations of the Squid Game guards appear at the bottom of the screen as the number “2” takes the place of the robot’s eye. The streamer also treated fans to a sneak preview of the upcoming season from writer, director, and executive producer, Hwang Dong-Hyuk. The message opened with a heartfelt note to fans, thanking them for watching and loving their show.

Dong-Hyuk then revealed that protagonist Gi-hun (Lee Jung-Jae, who won Best Male Actor at this year’s Screen Actor Guild Awards for the role) will return for Season 2, as will the Front Man (Lee Byung-hun), the masked man who oversees the Squid Game from a luxury apartment. The man in the suit with ddakji (Gong Yoo), a salesman who recruits members of the public to participate in the Game “might be back.” And, last but not least, Season 2 will introduce a boyfriend, Cheol-see, for the terrifying robot doll Young-hee. Netflix hasn’t announced a date yet for Season 2.

THE BEST SCENES FROM S1

Squid Game’s first game kicks off with the highly familiar Red Light, Green Light. Players can progress forward while on a green light, and lose if caught moving on a red light. The condition of the task is that if a player is caught moving by Squid Game’s giant doll, they’re immediately shot to death with sniper rifles. This was traumatic to watch, to say the least, but it did set the tone for the rest of the series.

The dalgona challenge

The goal of the dalgona challenge instructed players to cut out the carved symbols on the candy in various shapes- circle, triangle, star, or maybe an umbrella- without breaking the delicate dessert. The dalgona candy challenge quickly became viral on TikTok with many users trying it out.

The Tug Of War Challenge

Episode 4 introduced the cast to The tug-of-war challenge. The cast described it as “the most difficult” challenge of them all during the Squid Game round table panel discussion. The tug-of-war moments were certainly very intense as 10 members from each team had to fight the hard fall. All of the actors gave their best to make the Squid Game scenes look accurate.

The Glass Bridge (Bonus)

Episode 7 featured the elevated glass bridge challenge which featured the players crossing a faulty glass bridge. Think hopscotch or stepping stones. On the latter, cardboard or paper pieces are set out in a path where the players are only allowed to walk on stepping stones. A proctor usually gives a set pattern in which the players can walk that they have to remember. If they get it wrong, they’re punished with a consequence that takes them out of the game.

Contestants will go through a series of games inspired by the original show. New additions are all intended to test their strategies, alliances, and character as others are eliminated around them.
