Missy Elliot has become the first female rapper indicted into the 2019 Songwriters Hall of Fame.
Missy Elliot was nominated for the Songwriters Hall of Fame back in September of 2017.
Born Melissa Elliott, is known for embracing body, sex positivity and celebrating female empowerment within her lyrics and videos. With a long history in the music industry continually breaking barriers.
“A lot of people don’t know a lot of records that I’ve written or produced, so that’s a highlight for me as a woman,” she said. “I always said if a man would have done half the records that I’ve done we would know about it. But we don’t know all the records I’ve done for other artists.”

Elliott has written and produced songs for celebrities such as Janet Jackson, Lil Kim, Beyonce, Monica, Mary J. Blinge, Whitney Houston, Aaliyah, SWV, and so many more.
Elliot is the third rapper to be inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame, behind Jermaine Dupri in 2018 and Jay-Z in 2017.
