MEFeater Presents “Black Saturday”

In the fall of last year, MEFeater teamed up with music group “Black Bush,” to present our very first showcase held in the legendary music studio, Funkadelic Studios in Midtown, Manhattan. Following after a major holiday on the calender, the team decided to name the showcase Black Saturday because it fell on the Saturday directly after America’s favorite day for shopping sales, “Black Friday.”  Super trilled about the occasion, we decided to document the entire experience. Isher Roth ” The First Rawkage.” Anthony Mag$ Malvo Jay The Space AKIN Akbar Shabazz Kings of Tribe   The theme of the showcase was Young, New Comers from Brooklyn with the exception of Queens native, Anthony Mag$. Most of the acts chosen by the Black Bush Team (Malvo and Jay the Space) were rappers except Castle Stevens, who was also the only girl in the lineup and GVJIN, who are both talented singers. “I chose artists that were really underground…..like me.” Malvo told MEFeater. ” Artists that never really get a chance to perform.”  According to Malvo, Black Saturday was the first showcase for most of the acts who performed on stage. Many of the performers were also under the age 20, Nasir (King of Tribe) was our youngest performer at the tender age of 16. One can only imagine how nervous the performers must have been. However, these factors didn’t affect their performances at all. It actually made every performance extra raw and real. The hunger to not only perform, but to perform well moving the crowd was in every musician’s eyes. To tell you who did the best wouldn’t be fair because everyone was captivating in their own way.
