Meet 15-year-old Rapper, Fre$h the Prophet

While most ninth graders are worried about fitting into high-school and passing the Algebra regents, Fre$h The Prophet  is steadily working on his first mix-tape rightfully named  Fre$hmen, set to be released in the summer. 

Borned Jeremiah Heidebrecht, the 15 year old Hip-hop artist sapping in started rapping in 6th grade. According to Fre$h the Prophet he would rap in ciphers with his friends, but didn’t take it seriously until the 8th grade.

“I began making music as a way to express myself and get my thoughts, views, and opinions out there, ” says the 9th grade student.

Even though he is originally from Philadelphia, Fre$h’s move to Brooklyn, New York is adherent in his work. His cool, unexpected 90’s style is reminiscent of a younger New York’s jazz infused, mind-conscience, smooth sounding Hip Hop. Influenced by Hip Hop greats such as Nas and Mos Def, Fre$h the Prophet has always had a love for 90’s Hip hop.

“90’s hip hop was always the style that inspired me most, and I liked the vibe and feel of it,” says Fre$h the Prophet impressing me with his taste in music .

Addition to 90’s Hip Hop, the 15 year-old rapper is also inspired by modern artists, such as California’s very own TDE (Top Dawg Entertainment: Kendrick Lamar, School Boy Q, Jay Rock and Absoul) and the Beast Coast Movement which consist of the Flatbush Zombies, Pro Era, and the Under Achievers.

Even though Fre$h the Prophet is new to the scene, he already successfully developed a small fan base with over 20,000 plays on his Sound Cloud account in a matter of a few short months. Listen to his song “Finesse” feat. WillCee, one of his popular and latest releases.
