Sean “Diddy” Combs has been considered an elite figure in the music industry and a business mogul. His public image has drastically changed since a November 2023 lawsuit filed by his former partner, Cassandra Ventura, aka Cassie. More lawsuits filed against Diddy began to stack up after Ventura’s filing, leaving the rapper’s legacy at risk.

All of the lawsuits against the “Bad Boy” founder have involved allegations of sexual assault, drugging, and abuse. Diddy and his legal team have denied the allegations, stating that the plaintiffs are “just looking for a payday.” Many have considered these allegations and lawsuits to be the downfall of Diddy and his empire. Here is a recap of the lawsuits filed against Diddy.

Cassie alleges abuse and sex trafficking.

Cassie met Diddy in 2005 when he partnered with her label for her debut album. They began dating in 2007 and ended their relationship in 2018. As mentioned, the singer filed a lawsuit in November 2023 under New York’s Adult Survivors Act. In the lawsuit, the “Me & U” singer alleged that Diddy was extremely controlling throughout their 10-year-long relationship.

In addition to the emotional abuse, she alleges that Combs was physically abusive and would also drug her. The lawsuit also stated that Ventura was forced to engage with sex workers. In an alleged incident in 2018, Ventura claims that Combs broke into her home and raped her. After this incident, Ventura ended the relationship.

Combs and Ventura settled for an undisclosed amount shortly after filing. Both parties released individual statements in hopes of moving forward from the lawsuit.

Three more women come forward alleging sexual assault.

Not long after Ventura filed her complaint, two women came forward and filed additional lawsuits. Liza Gardner filed on Nov. 23, 2023 — one day before the Adult Survivor’s Act expired. The claim included singer Aaron Hall and referenced an incident in the early ’90s. Gardner stated that she and a friend were given large amounts of alcohol and coerced into sexual activities. While getting dressed, she claimed that Hall came into the room and raped her.

Joi Dickerson-Neal also filed a complaint on Nov. 23, 2023. The lawsuit alleged Combs drugged and sexually assaulted her after a dinner date. She also accused the music mogul of recording and showing the incident to others. While she did file complaints with local police stations, they stated that she did not have enough evidence, and Combs may have threatened witnesses to keep them from corroborating Gardner’s claims.

On Dec. 6, 2023, an additional lawsuit was filed. Choosing to stay anonymous, the plaintiff is listed as Jane Doe. The lawsuit accuses Combs and two of his associates of gang-raping her in the rapper’s apartment. Doe also claims that Combs and Harve Pierre drugged and sex trafficked her from New York City to Detroit. Along with the lawsuits are several pictures, including one with Doe sitting on Combs’ lap. The alleged incident occurred in 2003 when Jane Doe was just 17 years old.

Diddy’s former producer files a lawsuit.

In February 2024, Rodney “Lil Rod” Jones filed a lawsuit against Diddy. The lawsuit claims that Combs sexually harassed, drugged, and threatened the producer. Jones lived with Combs in 2022 and 2023, as he worked on the rapper’s album “Love.”

In the lawsuit, Jones stated that Combs could not keep his hands to himself, and he continuously groped the producer. Jones also claims that he woke up nude and in bed with Combs and sex workers. He had no recollection of prior events, alleging that Combs drugged him. The suit names others close to the rapper, including his son Justin Combs and Universal Music Group’s CEO Lucian Grainge. Jones is seeking $30 million in damages.

This lawsuit caused an online frenzy, as vague descriptions circulated about other possible victims. Although the names are redacted, the descriptions provided are considered undeniable. The complaint gave descriptions of the redacted names. One description stated: “Philadelphia rapper who dated Nicki Minaj.”

The lawsuit stated, “Mr. Combs informed Mr. Jones that he had engaged in sexual intercourse with rapper (REDACTED), R&B singer (REDACTED), and Stevie J.”

The R&B singer is described as someone who performed at the Super Bowl and has had a successful Las Vegas residency. Social media users have connected the dots and assumed Meek Mill and Usher to be the music artists in question. Stevie J was explicitly named, and it was alleged that he was in several pictures and videos having sex with another man. According to The Root, the man in the video is possibly adult film star Knockout.

In conjunction with Usher’s prior interview with Howard Stern, discussing his time at Diddy’s “Flavor Camp,” music fans have questioned the rapper’s choices and lifestyle. Read Jones’ full complaint here

Combs and Stevie J deny Jones’s claims. Usher has yet to respond. Meek Mill took to X to confront DJ Akademiks for publicly reading the lawsuit and making disparaging comments. He stated that he has not been involved in any illegal activity with Combs, nor is he gay.

Diddy has not made any public appearances or shared many social media posts since Ventura filed her lawsuit in 2023. He also stepped down from several roles, including Revolt. Other than the lawsuit filed by Ventura, no other plaintiffs have settled.
