Late last year there was some speculation that Kate Spade might be looking to sell. Well the rumors are true!
A couple of weeks ago it was confirmed that the popular fashion, lifestyle brand is up for sale. However, whether or not it will be sold is still up in the air. Kate Spade has not filed bankruptcy or anything. The company stated in their fourth quarter earnings report that a potential sale is only, “…to explore and evaluate strategic alternatives to further enhance shareholder value.” Luxury brands and competitors of Spade: Michael Kors and Coach have expressed some interest, but no solid steps have been taken yet.
