Deleted Scene Reveals The Impact “The Devil Wears Prada” Had On Fashion

The Devil Wears Prada is a cult classic and its lasting influence remains. Not least of all, the fashion.

Y’all love The Devil Wears Prada, right? MEFeater can’t get enough of it! It was the movie all fashion and movie buffs were waiting for. That idea of the fashion industry was a conspiracy of sorts. While it was somewhat exaggerated, it set the tone the industry was stuck in its ways. Did the recently emerged deleted scene (above) change the whole thing for you?

Miranda Priestly was an independent woman. She made Runway Magazine what it was; she made the fashion press quake in its boots. Miranda was the Anna Wintour of The Devil Wears Prada world. However she wasn’t submissive to her man (or so we thought.) Na-ah, he wouldn’t stand a chance now! Fashion is an ever-changing industry and the Miranda Priestly of today wouldn’t uphold such nonsense. Why? Women are so enabled & championed in fashion today. We’re thought to be everything; strong, creative, independent and inclusive. You can be anything you want to be without sticking to tradition. The film’s producers and director weren’t shy about the upheaval of all that and as it turned out, it was a phenomenal success.

I truly believe that movie changed so many things; the constant designer upheaval nowadays to name but one. Designers no longer feel that pressure to remain loyal to their brand/company and with the emergence of so many options for industry creatives, they know they can go forth and conquer their pursuit.  There are many variables to this of course but the influence of a movie like so that touched many industries clearly had a measurable impact.

The Devil Wears Prada changed the fashion landscape in that dreams seemed achievable and certain perceived elements of its ways became transparent. It stands to be the perfect film for fashion’s up and coming.
