#ICYMI: MEFeater’s Picks from Forbes 30 under 30

On November 15, 2017, Forbes released their annual 30 under 30 Lists. Just like previous years, Forbes crafted a list of 30 honorees from 20 industries.

When the list was first composed, Forbes would list young leaders from the tech business who was flourishing as well as have lack of diversity. Since 2011, the list has become more diverse in gender as well as ethnicity.

The list consists of America’s youngest ‘movers and makers that are changing the worlds.’

Here’s a list of MEFeater’s favorites.

Ayesha Curry, Chief Personality, FOOD & DRINK, 28

Ayesha Curry is a food personality, best selling cookbook author, Homemade (meal kit company) owner, and designer of a kitchenware that is sold nationwide. Not to mention Ayesha just recently opened her first restaurant, International Smoke with her business partner Michael Mina. She is also a mother of two daughters and wife to Stephen Curry.

Yara Shahidi, Actor, HOLLYWOOD ENTERTAINMENT, 17

Yara Shadidi made her film debut in 2009 alongside Eddie Murphy in Imagine That. Since then she starred in a variety of movies and shows such as Black-ish. In early 2017 ABC announced, Yara would be starring in a spinoff, Grown-ish. Yara will be attending Harvard University in 2018.

Cardi B, Musician, MUSIC, 25

With “Bodak Yellow” being the song of the year, Cardi has become the first rapper since to top charts without a feature since 1998. Aside from having the number one song, she recently got engaged to Offset, from the Migos.

Marley Dias, Founder of #1000blackgirlsbook, MEDIA, 12

Founder of her own organization, Marley has collected 10,000 books featuring black female protagonist to date. Due to her philanthropy work, she was able to speak at the United State of Women Summit alongside Oprah Winfrey and Michelle Obama. In 2018 she will publish her first book.

Kofi Siriboe, Actor, HOLLYWOOD ENTERTAINMENT, 23

Known for his critically acclaimed role in “Queen Sugar” as Ralph Angel Bordelon, Kofi also had a recurring role in “Awkward.” He is also known for his role as Malik in “Girls Trip.”

Iyore Olaye, Product Development Engineer, RETAIL & E-COMMERCE, 22

Iyore is the lead product development engineer at Walker and Company. Which is a tech company creating beauty products for people of color. The company has a men line BEVEL and hair care line FORM. The company is known for it marketing talents, technical abilities, and is black-owned.

Ryan Williams, Cofounder of Cadre, FINANCE, 29

Co-founder of Cadre, a technology company that cuts out the middleman for investors, when investing in commercial real estate. With the company being founded in 2014, the company has an $800 million valuation.

Awol Erizku, Artist, ART & STYLE, 29

Best known for shooting Beyoncé’s maternity photoshoot announcing her twin in 2017; Awol is an artist who was born in Ethiopia and raised the South Bronx. He received his MFA from Yale, he is best known for his piece he made during his undergrad Cooper-Union: “Girl with a Bamboo Earring,”

Davidson Petit- Frere, Fashion Designer, ART & STYLE, 28

Former real estate agent, Petit-Frere fell in love with suits when he would get his suits custom made. He is the co-founder of a men’s line Musika Frere, specializing in suits. A-listers such as Jay-Z, Kevin Hart, and Stephen Curry has been seen wearing his creations.

Steven Caple Jr. HOLLYWOOD ENTERTAINMENT, 29

Debuting his film “The Land” at Sundance 2016, where it was acquired by IFC. Steven is now penning an Emmett Till miniseries on HBO, produced by Jay-Z and Will Smith.
