Need some new ideas on how to get your holiday groove on? Well, look no further. Here are 10 fun activities to do for the winter holidays.

1. Attend Winterfest

If you love looking at Christmas lights and watching whimsical performances, Winterfest is the right choice for you! Winterfest (or winter festival) is the celebration of all winter holidays. Winterfest consists of musicals, parades, endless food, and TONS of lights! If you’re an adrenaline junkie, some amusement parks rides are open. Ranging from $15-$30 per person, Winterfest is one of the most fun and affordable activities to partake in this season.

2. Go caroling

What are the holidays without some caroling? This season, consider caroling around the neighborhood with your closest friends and family. It wouldn’t hurt for people to hear Boyz II Men’s rendition of “Let It Snow” or TLC’s “Sleigh Ride”.

3. Go to Holiday Nights at a botanical garden

Who said botanical gardens are only for the spring? This winter, go visit your nearest botanical garden and experience Holiday Nights. It is an event to see the most beautiful exhibitions and sculptures. Although prices range from $35-$50 per person, this activity is worth the time and money!

4. Rent out a movie theater

Everyone misses the experience of going to the movies so, why not rent out a movie theater to watch your favorite holiday movies? For around $100 (and free popcorn), you can enjoy a private movie screening with your loved ones. Check your local movie theaters to see what holiday movies are available and relax!

5. Partake in a gingerbread house challenge

Who doesn’t love making gingerbread houses? This holiday season, challenge your loved ones to make the most intricate and eclectic gingerbread house. Bonus points if figurines are also made out of food!

6. Create new recipes in a hot cocoa challenge

Granted, making hot cocoa is super easy but, what if you add a little bit of spice? This season try to come up with some new tasty hot cocoa recipes. For example, you could make mint, salted caramel, or white chocolate cherry hot cocoa. You could even up the ante with a spiked cocoa for the adults. Either way, get your loved ones involved in the cocoa-making challenge!

7. Decorate holiday cookies

Decorating cookies is one of the most fun things to do for the holidays! Ever wanted to try to make a snowflake or Grogu cookie? Well, this season you can! Challenge your friends and family to decorate the most intricate cookies for bragging rights. At the end, you can even do a cookie exchange? 12 different cookies in one night? Sounds like my type of party!

8. Create a milkshake in the holiday milkshake challenge

Your milkshakes bring all the elves to the yard- or at least you hope they do. Although a bit unusual, it would be interesting to partake in a holiday milkshake challenge. For this, challenge friends or family to create a holiday-themed milkshake. Some examples of holiday-themed milkshakes could be chocolate peppermint, Queen Anne’s, or sugar cookie milkshakes.

All in all, it is important to remember that this season is to spend time with loved ones. Whether you do these activities with your best friend, partner, or grandmother, remember to enjoy yourself and bask in your time together. This year has been full of trying times, so reflect, unwind, and enjoy this time while you have it.
