Halle Berry’s “Kidnap” rakes in $32 million dollars

Halle Berry’s “Kidnap” records, on September 14, 2017, to have brought in $31.9 million dollars against a production budget of $21 million. Kidnap was written by Knate Lee, directed by Luis Preto, and produced by Gregory Chou.

This movie premiered on July 17, 2017, and did good at the box office its first week out. It was projected to gross $8 million dollars from 2,378 its opening weekend. It made $3.7 million dollars its first day, and $10 million over the weekend, finishing 5th in the box office.

The success was short-lived, dropping 49.1% in its second week bringing in $5.1 million and finishing in 8th place. The difference margin is still more than you and the next person is worth; unless you’re priceless… like most of us.

In my opinion Kidnap didn’t do as great as predicted. Its success was short-lived. The movie only did as well as it did because it had Halle Berry’s name behind it. Take her name out weeks before its premiere date and I can almost guarantee it won’t get half the numbers it recorded.

Credit has to be given when it’s due, and regardless of how significant the box office profits, Halle Berry’s Kidnap still brought home the bacon. After the budget spent on making the movie is made back, there’s an $11 million dollar profit. I’m sure the investors of the movie wished for a bigger profit return, but in my book an $11 million dollar return of profit in anything is always a success.
