From Yung Baby Tate to Kehlani: Here are 8 Songs You Need to Hear This Week ✨

After seven days that felt more like seven years, we’ve made it to the end of the week, you and I. With new days, come new emotions, and the only thing that seems constant theses days are music releases.  From Yung Baby Tate to Masego, here are some of the best releases you may have missed this week!

“NOT TOO DEEP”- India Shawn ft 6lack-

Los Angles based singer and songwriter, India Shaw is definitely someone to keep an eye on! “NOT TOO DEEP” is kind to the ears. It’s a melodic tune that shows India’s natural talent. She exudes feminism and love through her exceptional voice and visuals. India Shawn and 6lack has vocal similarities make the song as outstanding as it is.

“Groovy”-Abby Jasmine ft Guapdad4000

This week Abby Jasmine and Guapdad4000 represent originality and creativity. Abby bars shine on this track while Guapdad4000 adds the charisma- making a perfect pairing. The visuals are fun and playful, showing different types of ways to go viral. “Groovy” comes off of Abby Jasmine’s latest album Who Cares

“He Wanna”- Yung Baby Tate ft. B.K. Habermehl

“He Wanna” is made for the bad ones ( self-proclaimed always). Yung Baby Tate talent could never be called into question. She excels on every track she is on. The Decatur native is confident, knowing who she is and never settling. After the release of her debut album Girls, Yung Baby Tate has proven yet again that she is one to watch.

“The BEACH”- Giveon

‘sShoutout to the 562! sultry vocals soar over an acoustic guitar as he sings about his hometown of Long Beach. Whenever someone says R&B is dead he is one of the many artists I suggest people listen to. cadence is unique and pleasant.

“Veg Out (Wasting Thyme)” – Masego

Masego is the vibe king! The saxophonist, vocalist uses wordplay to talk about wanting to waste time with a romantic interest while also hinting at eating better during a health crisis (might be a stretch but I am running with it). Time is something we have a lot of now and in Masego’s latest visual he shows how he is spending time at home during a state-wide safer at home ordnance. This is an upbeat record the follows his 2020 debut track ” King’s Rant”.

“Tell Her” – Zilo

Zilo’s signature sound and raw vocals graces a textured production on “Tell Her”. The London native is grounded in r&b and soul with hip hop notes. Her lyrics are personal and relatable. We’ve all been in a situation where we’ve wanted our current bf/gf to end all ties with their ex but have been conflicted with trying to play it cool. Zilo gets it and if you need help communicating that to your romantic partner, play this for them (haha) !

“Everybody Business” – Kehlani

Kehlani just wants privacy and really who can blame her. Kehlani release a self- directed video along with her latest single “Everybody Business”. The track samples Pharell’s Frontin’, I ain’t ever been a half-assed lover / Rather lay out on the train tracks for ya.” Kehlani recently announced her sophomore album, It Was Good Until It Wasn’t releasing May 8th.

“Away”- Oxlade

Nigerian artist, Oxlade is quickly garnering worldwide attention. His latest single “Away” is bouncy, light, and easy to move to. As it’s warming up on the west coast, I will be dancing in my room to this until we are allowed back outside. The visuals greatly depict the feel of the song with bright colors, smiles, and all the beauty of Ghana.
