From Jhene Aiko to Raveena: Here Are Your Music Releases of the Week!

Each week we compose a list of newly released songs that we think you should hear. Here are some of the best releases you may have missed this week! Don’t forget who put you on.

Triggered // Jhené Aiko

Much like any true Pisces, Jhené surprise released the newest “in my bag” anthem. This is the first time we’ve heard from her since the release of her latest album release, Trip. She’s comeback with a flush of emotions regarding her latest breakup. If you’ve ever experienced a tough love, sort of heartbreak, drown yourself in her sweet tone of vulgar words. Triggered, will send you into a deep reflection mode- and we’re not even mad about it.

That’s Not True // Skip Marley ft. Damian Marley

What’s a summer without a reggae prodigy? Skip Marley (grandson of Rasta icon, Bob Marley) has released your summer reggae go-to. And of course, he keeps the family close by featuring none other than his uncle (youngest son of Bob Marley) Damian Marley. “That’s Not True” is Skip’s first release since 2017- and it is worth all the rage. Check out the video release above!

Beauty Marks // Ciara

Along with her latest album release, Beauty Marks, Ciara released a single of the same name. Ciara beautifully embodies what it is to be unfathomably in love. There is so much to appreciate about the love she shares with Russell Wilson; you can hear it in her vulnerable lyrics and touching music video. This is certainly a tune you want to bring to your attention.

Mama // Raveena

With Mother’s Day weekend just having passed, we decided this was an essential song to place on this weeks playlist. Raveena released a song in honor of not just her own Mama, but all different kinds of Mama’s. In the visual representing the song, she beautifully compiles different mother-daughter relationships and the importance of how culture/dreams takes place in those relationships. Play this song for your Mama, she’ll smile from cheek to cheek.

Leave Me Alone // Nerika

You can always say MEF put you on! Nerika is an upcoming artist from New Hampshire yet, born to Jamaican parents. In her song, “Leave Me Alone”, her fusion of all aspect of life are evident. She showcases elements of Caribbean pop, and in addition, some R&B with Alt-Rock vibes as well. Nerika wrote this song on her own, while the production was done by the producer, Austin Crute. Press the play button, Nerika is a gem!
