Fall right in line with the latest fashions coming out of Fashion Month. As fashion continues to cycle, it seems nostalgia is still prevalent in the fashion space. From Siriano at New York Fashion Week to Diesel at Milan Fashion Week, SS23 Fashion Month designers debuted some of the season’s hottest trends.
Some of these styles were seen during fashion month and seemed to have carried over into early fall fashion. Here are the top three trends we spotted.
Sustainable Style
Sustainability is more than a trend in fashion. It’s become the norm and expectation for most designers. You cannot partake in fashion without being aware of its global impact. Designers from New York to Paris agree and have incorporated that into their looks.
Oliver Rousteing told Vogue of the Balmain Spring 2023 Couture collection that he could not claim this collection was 100 percent sustainable, but he’d used fabrics made of paper, banana, and wicker to be as much so as possible.
Collina Strada’s collection focused on the endangered species of monarch butterflies.
Peter Do collaborated with TômTex to make a leather material made out of food waste, such as shrimp and mushrooms.
Denim, Denim, everywhere
Denim is a tried and true textile and has been a standout in fashion for decades because of its versatility. With the nostalgic nature of fashion that’s become the norm in the last few seasons, denim is a HUGE trend this season, seen creatively utilized at Diesel and Blumarine. Here’s some denim inspo for your wardrobe.
Striking Silhouettes
With playful textures, venues, and color palettes, it’s exciting to see designers playing with striking (and even some bizarre) silhouettes.
At Loewe, we saw exaggerated hips, waistlines, chest plates, and experimental designs reminiscent of video game pixels.
At Moschino, we even saw inflatable waistlines and wide-brim tilt hats (a stylish bonus trend this season).
