College Sucks and So Does Finals Week!

jk

Are you a college student experiencing overwhelming anxiety and stress? Well buddy join the club. I too am going crazy over how many papers I need to write, how many classes I missed, how many hours I worked, and when will I turn in this extra credit. The STRESS I have is beyond normal, but don’t worry Final week is approaching. It will all be over pretty soon. In order not to go crazy before Christmas FOLLOW THESE STEPS!

1. VENT, VENT, VENT!

Please don’t hold these bad feelings in. Write it in your diary, blog, or notes on your phone(See my letter to College on the clique Page) or call a close friend on the phone. If you don’t let your feelings out, you will become a constipated stress bubble and crack under the pressure. It’s best to tell people your problem, because you never know what inspirational words they may give you.

2. COMMUNICATE with your Professors!

This is where I went wrong last year. I wasn’t communicating with my professors and I didn’t know where I stood in my classes. Knowing where you stand can help you maneuver through assignments with a clear focus. Plus, communicating with your professors shows them you’re trying and who wants to fail someone who tried to do well. NO ONE, that’s who! (unless you get a mean professor)

3. GET HELP from fellow classmates!!!

This is something I wish I would have done last year! I was so full of a mixture of shyness and pride that I didn’t ask anyone for help. That was a big mistake. If given the chance, pick your classmates’ brains on assignments, things you missed, etc. You never know the answers they can give you!

4. MAKE a PLAYLIST!

Music has helped you with so many issues, why not this one? Music changes your mood with each song. It also relaxes you. Make a bomb playlist that either pumps you up or helps you get focused to finish your assignments!

5. REWARD YOURSELF once YOU CROSSED the FINISH LINE!!!

Think about it, every sporting event or school club you participated in you were given a reward or certificate of participation, so why not reward yourself in this case. School is hard and deserves a reward just for showing up to class everyday, ironically Perfect Attendance awards are given out in grade school, so don’t feel like that is a small accomplishment!  Even if it’s a small dinner with a few friends or a pricey new gadget, do it! Treat yourself! You deserve it!

6. STUDY, STUDY, STUDY!

This is the most important step, so I saved it for last! If you fail to prepare, you prepare to fail! Study all of your material days in advance and PLEASE DON’T CRAM unless that’s a system you perfected.  Study everything and more on that study sheet and make sure to cover all ground. When you study be sure to shut your phone off completely. You want clear, sheer focus while studying! Don’t half ass it and put it on vibrate either, because hearing your phone buzz ultimately makes you check your phone and that leads you to lose your thoughts when studying!

Be sure to drink lots of water and eat healthy TOO! GOOD LUCK MEFheads!
