College Hill: Celebrity Edition will premiere on BET+ on June 27. The revival of the popular show will feature Slim Thug, India Love, Ray J, Nene Leakes, Lamar Odom, Dreamdoll, and Big Freedia. It’s rumored Stacey Dash exited before filming could complete. The series will highlight the celebs’ return to higher education – an interesting take on the original.
Fans have been calling for the return of the show for years as it was a trendsetter in the reality TV industry – one of the few reality TV shows at its time featuring black cast members. Originally airing in 2004 on BET, the hit show followed the lives of students at historically black colleges aka HBCUs.
It will be interesting to see the series devoid of college students and instead following celebrities. Followers of the show have been vocal about this casting on social media. Their main concern is that this celeb edition isn’t true to the College Hill brand which was intended to highlight life at HBCU’s.
