#ICYMI: Colin Kaepernick Requested to Only Wear Black Designers for GQ

Colin Kaepernick Requested to Only Wear Black Designers for GQ

For the past year, former quarterback Colin Kaepernick has made headlines for his National Anthem protest. While Kaepernick decides to continue his silent protest; he uses his actions to inspire the generation to come. He recently requested to only wear Black designers for his GQ photo shoot.

Kaepernick was recently named Citizen of the Year by GQ magazine. While being styled for the photo shoot, he informed his stylist Rachel Johnson that he wants to wear clothes designed by people of color and/or women.

Johnson told Refinery29, “he wanted to wear designers of color and or designers who were women. He wanted to give an opportunity for designers to be featured in the magazine who wouldn’t normally be, especially for a cover shoot of this magnitude.”
