Colin Kaepernick Receives NFLPA Community MVP Award

Even though Colin Kaepernick isn’t on anyone’s roster, he is still being recognized by the NFL Players Association for his good deeds. Last week, the NFLPA announced that the free agent, had been awarded the winner of the week 1 Community MVP award in honor of his philanthropy and commitment to empowering under-served communities. Kaepernick has donated over $1 million to grassroots outreach and other various liberal causes and organizations such as, Meals on Wheels and the immigrant organization, United We Dream.

Just recently Kaepernick’s donations helped illegal aliens travel to D.C. so that they could protest against Trump administration’s change in Barack Obama’s Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) policies.

In 2016, Kaepernick announced that he would be donating more than $1 million to his favored causes along with donating the proceeds of his jersey sales. He has also been hands on in his commitment to empowering communities, which he has been doing by hosting a “Know Your Rights Camp” in various cities. The purpose of the camp is to educate children on interacting with law enforcement.

Back in 2016, Kaepernick made a statement when he took a seat during the National Anthem in protest of the recurring incidents of police brutality and injustices in the United States. Despite the backlash, he has many supporters that consist of other athletes such as Marshawn Lynch, his fraternity, Kappa Alpha Psi along with various celebrities and organizations.

Although it seems as if the NFL is turning its back on Kaepernick this season he is still doing great things, prospering and getting the recognition he deserves.
