Chick-fil-A store Owner Raises Minimum Wage to $17 an Hour

chick-fil-a

Employees at this California Chick-fil-A restaurant will soon earn a minimum wage that surpasses that of educators, healthcare workers and other professionals.

In an effort to improve his employees’ standard of living and create long-term business opportunities, Chick-fil-A franchise owner Eric Mason will raise his hospitality professionals’ hourly wages to $17 as of Monday, June 4.

Mason’s has said that this increase, which he calls “living wage”, represents a sizable increase for his employees now making $12 to $13 an hour.

This $5 raise is unusual considering that California’s minimum wage is currently $11 an hour. CNN has reported, however, that this will rise steadily to $15 by 2022.
