Cassie has officially made her long overdue return to the music industry.
This past Saturday Cassie’s new single “Love A Loser”, debuted on OVO Sound radio. It’s been 11 years since Cassie’s major hit, “Me & U”, introduced her to the music world.
However, it seems like we haven’t heard much from her since then; Aside from her dating one of hip-hops greatest moguls and looking absolutely flawless on Instagram.
In “Love A Loser”, Cassie stays true to her smooth R&B music style and soft toned voice singing, “I’d rather lose a lover than to love a loser. Think I’m under your spell. Tell me is it me or the drugs, cause baby I can’t tell.” Cassie makes it clear that she isn’t the one for BS relationships. Therefore, she can almost see right through them.
Furthermore, Cassie is drawn to this man for some reason that she can’t figure out. She knows she shouldn’t want him, but when has everyone ever listened to their head over their heart? Although she knows she should stop seeing this loser, it’s kind of hard. We’ve all been there, girl.
G-Eazy brings a male perspective into the song. The Oakland rapper is known for his hits like “Me, Myself, & I, “I Mean It”. In “Love A Loser” he raps, “I heard she had someone new she was messing with, fuck. I cannot tell, I think I’m under her spell. I sent her flowers, and all she sent back was, “Hope all is well”. Savage much? If I get flowers, I’m melting. I need her number for notes!
Cassie’s soft singing, and catchy lines makes this a definite summer vibe. Hopefully, Cassie will stay consistent and release more R&B music over the years. But we’ll just have to wait and see!
