No seriously, I understand we all love remixes, especially when it is a good song. (Hell, sometimes they are even better than the original song. See: TDE X UOENO, Flawless Remix.) We think to ourselves, “There’s no way they can fuck this up”. Well, after listening to the Calvin Harris remix of “The Weekend”, I can gladly say they fucked this up.
Calvin Harris fans please don’t kill me but his remix did absolutely nothing for this song.
Everyone likes to hear a Calvin Harris remix, but did Y’all really think his style of music would mesh well with “The Weekend’s” melodic vibes?
We didn’t need “The Weekend” to be a house jam. We were perfectly fine vibing to it with our incense and candles illuminating in the background. Hell, even if we wanted too, we could turn up to The Weekend at a house party WITHOUT the dance hall music.
However, Calvin Harris is a respected artist in the music industry and we can’t be mad at SZA for working with such an established artist.
Maybe the two can collab on an entirely new piece together one day instead of trying to spin a totally different vibe to an already popular song.

SZA never disappoints went it comes to visual storytelling, but unfortunately, fans aren’t feeling the Solange Knowles Directed Video. We want to see a new video for The weekend, not a pop remix. Something that has a storyline and screams SZA, not Solange!
