Following the success of BET’s The New Edition Story, the Network has announced a followup: The Bobby Brown Story, starring Woody McClain. This biography will be presented in a similar n=mini series fashion that will air next fall.
BET has said that the story will be “a two-night journey that chronicles Bobby’s wild ride to success following his departure from New Edition, his passionate affair with fellow R&B megastar Janet Jackson, and of course, his marriage to superstar Whitney Houston and their tumultuous life in and out of the tabloids. Spanning 30 years of Bobby’s life, the story starts from the hard streets of Roxbury where he turned to a life of drug dealing before being given the chance to prove himself as a solo artist.”
Executive Producer Jesse Collins and Writer Abdul Williams will return onboard for the forthcoming special. The Bobby Brown Story will also feature portrayals of Whitney Houston, Babyface, Bobbi Kristina Brown, and more.
