‘Black Lightning’: Jill Scott Casted as Supervillain Lady Eve

Grammy Award-winning singer Jill Scott has been cast as the villainous Lady Eve in “Black Lightning”.

Based on the DC comic created by Tony Isabelle with Trevor Von Eeden, Black Lightning centers on Jefferson Pierce (Cress Williams). Lady Eve is a funeral parlor owner in Freeland who immediately becomes an adversary to Black Lightning. She is the bridge between Tobias Whale being played by Marvin “Krondon” Jones III and a secret group of evil leaders.

Lady Eve appeared in comics in 1985 “Batman and the Outsiders #24”. She is the right-hand woman to the terrorist Kobra and Kobra Cult. Executive producer Salim Akil said “Jill is an amazing artist who can embody any character and give them an authentic voice that is both nuanced and richly complex. I am excited to see her in the role of Lady Eve”.

Jill Scott has performed on Broadway and in films such as Why Did I Get Married?, The No. 1 Ladies’ Detective Agency and Steel Magnolias, as well as others.

We’re so excited to see Jill Scott tap into the DC realm and portray a supervillain. Which I will admit I did not expect but totally in support of.

Black Lightning premieres midseason on The CW.
