5 Reasons Why Renaissance is the Album of the Year

Renaissance, an album that shook 2022 to its core, deserves to be nominated for the coveted “Album of the Year” award, amongst others. We comprised a list of five reasons why Beyonce’s Renaissance is the Album of the Year.

1. It incorporated multiple genres

This was not just a house music album. This was an album that related to people of all backgrounds and paths of life, but especially the LGBTQIA+ community. It has a song for everyone—the baddies, the dancing divas, the Virgos, the church girls, and more! Truly an Album of the Year in every way.

2. The Renaissance Tour

This tour. This tour. This tour. The Renaissance Tour, which is expected to happen in the summer of 2023, promises to be the most energetic tour yet. The album visuals alone (and secret album parties) tell us all we need to know about the tour. The Beyhive is already planning their outfits and dance moves in whatever city they end up seeing Bey.

 3. An ode to Uncle Johnny

Bey paid homage to her late uncle Johnny, who is well known for being a huge part of her life and style. So many listeners can relate to their own version of Uncle Johnny, who inspired them and reminded them of their power.

“Uncle Johnny made my dress, that cheap Spandex; she looks a mess.”

4. The cameos, y’all, the cameos

Beyonce had some of the best cameos of the whole year. She featured well-known, inspiring black artists like Big Freedia and TS Madison, honoring her house and bounce inspirations.

5. It used samples in the most creative way

Bey is well known for creatively using samples, sounds, and her own voice in the most creative ways. Despite the naysayers, many artists like Grace Jones and The Pointer Sisters were honored to hear Bey’s use of their music and images on her iconic album.
