Beats, Rhymes, Life: Eugene The Dream

Eudene the Dream

A Houston Texas native, Eugene The Dream is as versatile as he his unique. Attributing himself as an almost bridge between The North and The South, Eugene The Dream’s talents have brought him to receive high praise through outlets such as Vine and Soundcloud.

Who is Eugene The Dream?

Hmm…Eugene The Dream is an artist. Eugene The Dream isn’t just one thing, he’s complex – the producer, beatmaker, rapper soloist – Eugene The Dream is a multitude of many different sounds, and many different possibilities.

What got you interested in music?

Well, I was in bands ever since I was in fourth grade. I would always jam on saxophone or guitar – until one day, I cam across Fruity Loops. I only had the demo version, but I would use it everyday and try my best to be like the producers, I’ve been listening to since young. I really liked FL because it’s what was available to me. Plus 9th Wonder uses it – which is also a plus.

How would you define your style?

I’m big on sampling. I tend to adopt many styles of the north, however with a southern kick. My biggest influences are Adlib, 9th Wonder, Flying Lotus, Mike Will Made It – basically a huge mix of southern and northern producers.

You gained most of your exposure through Vine – how did that kick off?

I initially pushed my beats through vine, however I never anticipated that I would achieve any type of recognition through my posts. I would be stuck at home, experimenting with beats, and eventually I caught the attention of a lot of people.
