Director Ava DuVernay has teamed up with Charles D. King and Victoria Mahoney to develop a TV adaptation of Dawn, the 1987 sci-fi novel by Octavia E. Butler.
DuVernay and King will be the executive producers, while Mahoney will be writing the script. This will be the first time Butler’s work will be adapted for TV.
Dawn is about a black woman who gets taken aboard an alien ship a few hundred years after mankind was destroyed by a nuclear war (very timely). The aliens offer to resurrect the human race, but the remaining humans are skeptical of working with the aliens.
There is no known network or streaming service that will present the series, yet.
